"Free Flying" Laser Cut Wood Inlay Wall Art

About the Piece

"Free Flying" is a deep-dive into natural wood textures and dimensional layering. This is the first edition in this series to be housed in a solid walnut frame and features my most detailed hand-shaping on the eagle to date. It’s built to be a substantial, quiet statement piece that fits just as well in a modern city home as it does in a rustic cabin.

The Materials

The Eagle: Hand-selected and shaped from solid Oak, Maple, Cherry, Mahogany, and Walnut.

The Background: The star field and stripes are crafted from hardwood-veneered plywood, using the natural dark grain of Walnut to represent the stars.

The Frame: A custom-built, 25.5" square frame made from solid Walnut.

Finish & Details

Luster: Hand-rubbed with Danish oil for a clean matte finish that protects the wood without the shine.

Size: The artwork is 24" square; total outside dimensions are 25.5" square.

Hanging: Includes a French cleat system on the back for a secure, flush mount to your wall.
